Dr. Fay, a leading authority in addiction medicine, designed and implemented our medical program including our detox protocols for alcohol and opiate addiction. Dr. Fay has over 30 years of experience working in the field of addiction medicine including front-line work, advocacy, physician training and protocol and policy development. He was a founding physician of Vancouver Detox where he collaborated with colleagues to develop innovative detox protocols for alcohol and opiate addiction. He also co-founded the Advisory Committee on Opioid Dependency at the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons. This committee pioneered the education and monitoring of physicians. In addition to his front-line work, Dr. Fay has been an auditor for the BC College of Physicians on prescribing issues, a board member at Pacifica Treatment center, an advisor to Corrections Canada and to the provincial government of British Columbia as well as a mentor to physicians in recovery.
Dr. Fay’s contributions to the field of addiction medicine have been widely recognized. Dr. Fay was also notably recognized as a distinguished fellow of the American Society DFSAM in 2010 for exceptional services including advocacy and teaching in the field of addiction medicine.
Dr. Fay is exam certified with the American Society of Addiction Medicine since 1988, and is board certified with ABAM (Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine) since its inception.
