James brings to the Orchard an extensive and diverse background as an Addiction Counsellor having worked with homeless Combat and Non Combat Veterans in San Diego as well as with clients in private treatment centres in Ontario and Saskatchewan. He has a proven history of working with a wide variety of people and provides passionate care based on ethical practices that enables client’s to help themselves.
James builds and maintains professional relationships with clients, communicates effectively with persons from a wide variety of social, cultural and economic backgrounds, while acting as a supportive guide in a culturally competent manner.
James relies on his own personal recovery and professional life skills experience to empower clients by (through) focusing on their own internal strengths and resources and helps them establish the skills necessary to make positive life changes.
In addition he has an extensive background in sales and marketing that is invaluable in supporting clients seeking employment or making a career change.
James is an avid hiker, backpacker and still has a passion for and plays hockey.
James has BSW and completed a Diploma in Addiction / Case Management from McMaster University. James is a member of the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation and is an ICADC (Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor.
