Orchard Nurse

James completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at the University of Prince Edward Island and has been a practicing Registered Nurse since 2010. James also holds a Masters of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Regina and is a Certified Health Executive (CHE) with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
James is an experienced nurse and health care administrator and has held senior leadership roles in the Prince Edward Island (PEI) health care system, providing strategic direction and leading significant transformation initiatives to various provincial health programs. James also provides health management and regulatory consultancy services to various provincial and national organizations and brings his wealth of nursing and health care leadership experience to his work at the Orchard Recovery Center.
James medically manages clients’ drug and alcohol withdrawal at the Orchard and works with clients to deal with medical issues that arise as a result of their addiction and with their pre-existing health conditions. James is passionate about supporting clients in accessing quality medical care as they move through their time at the Orchard.
James was awarded a Bar to Service Medal from the Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth Council in 2010, a Bill and Denise Andrew Preceptor Scholarship for his work as a preceptor for nursing students from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2015, a Leadership Excellence in Quality and Safety Award from the provincial authority in Prince Edward Island in 2017 and an Innovation Award from the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement in 2017.
