Martin has worked in a variety of support staff positions at the Orchard since 2007, until moving into his current position in 2013, helping the Orchard automate assessments and reports for clients with a focus on developing online tools for staff and clients. Martin also works on developing and maintaining the Orchard’s website.
Martin continues to work as one of the Orchards intake specialists on our phone lines and on the web site chat interface. As a 12 step recovery coach he helps new clients develop an understanding of the recovery process and how to use the tools in their lives.
Prior to joining the Orchard, Martin worked with homeless and addicted clients at the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre. He has been an active member of the recovery community for over 21 years.
Martin’s background includes firmware and software engineering design and development for over 39 years.
Martin moved to Bowen Island in 2007 shortly before joining the Orchard Recovery Center, he has developed a passion for sailing and most weekends during the year can be found out on the waters of Howe Sound and the Strait of Georgia. In 2022 he decided to move to North Vancouver, but continues to enjoy the daily commute to beautiful Bowen Island.
