Family Counselling at Orchard Recovery Center
Addiction is a disease that affects the whole family. The Orchard Recovery Center’s clients are encouraged to invite loved ones to participate in our family weekend programming every Saturday. Family programming is offered online using the Zoom communications platform, so family members may participate from wherever they are located.
Once every six weeks the Orchard hosts an extended family program that includes a Friday seminar on rebuilding trust and our regular Saturday family program. The extended family long weekend invites loved ones to participate int the family programming to focus on a more in-depth look at addiction and family dynamics.
Educational Seminar
Our Educational Seminar brings together clients and their invited family members for an educational session led by one of our experienced counsellors. This seminar provides families with a deeper understanding of addiction, recovery, and the impact of substance use on relationships. Family members join remotely via Zoom, allowing participation from anywhere in the world. The session encourages insight, empathy, and open communication, helping both clients and their loved ones.
Following the seminar, there is a break for lunch before transitioning into Small Groups in the afternoon.
Small Groups
Our Small Groups provide an opportunity for more personal, focused conversations in a supportive setting. Each group consists of two to three clients and one counsellor. Within this setting, clients and their invited family members who have attended the morning seminar can connect privately via Zoom. This format allows for meaningful dialogue guided by the counsellor, helping participants address family dynamics, express emotions, and strengthen understanding between clients and loved ones.
Participation in Small Groups is optional, and attendance is by invitation from the client. These sessions often serve as a valuable step toward healing relationships and fostering lasting recovery.
