Martin joined The Orchard in 2007, initially serving in various support staff capacities. Since 2013, he has been pivotal in automating client assessments and reports, designing and developing online tools vital for both staff and clients. His technical contributions also extend to maintaining The Orchard’s website. On the front lines, Martin serves as an intake specialist, answering calls and guiding initial client interactions. Furthermore, as a 12-step recovery coach, he provides essential support, helping new clients understand and apply recovery principles.

With over 22 years years of active engagement in the recovery community—from Calgary to Bowen Island and now the North Shore—Martin brings profound personal insight to his work. His professional background is equally robust, encompassing over 39 years years in firmware and software engineering design and development. Earlier in his career, he worked with people experiencing housing insecurity and addiction at the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre.

A move to Bowen Island in 2007 sparked Martin’s passion for sailing, a pastime he pursued enthusiastically on Howe Sound and the Strait of Georgia. Although he relocated to North Vancouver in 2022, he continues to enjoy his daily commute, bridging his current home with the natural beauty of Bowen Island.
